Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi urged his supporters to armed struggle to defeat the "enemies" and "liberate Tripoli" in an audio message released Thursday.
"We must resist against these rats-enemies, who will be defeated by armed struggle," said Colonel Gaddafi in the recording broadcast by the satellite channel Arrai based in Syria. "Get out of your home, free Tripoli. Do not be afraid of them … Oh youth of Tripoli, fight them from street to street, alley by alley, house to house. With rifles and pistols, they will be destroyed. The enemy will be defeated, NATO will be defeated. Confront them and clean up Tripoli of these rats of colonization,” he said, asking his supporters not to be “afraid of bombing". "These are just sound bombs".
The broadcast of this message comes five days after the offensive on the capital by the rebels. The last intervention of the Libyan leader goes back to Wednesday morning. He claimed to have walked incognito in Tripoli and called people to "clean up" the capital of the rebels.
